Catholic offensive lineman Cade Mays and Coalfield quarterback Parker McKinney were named 2017 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football winners on Monday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Mays, the No. 1 prospect in the state who recently re-opened his recruitment after being committed to Tennessee since July 13, 2015, was the demonstrative leader for a Fighting Irish team that will play Beech for a Class 5A state championship Thursday at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville. The senior anchored an offensive line that paved the way for Catholic to average 43.2 points per game.
McKinney, who is committed to Eastern Kentucky, threw for 2,188 yards and 26 touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets to the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Maryville’s Dylan Hopkins (Class 6A), Anderson County’s Stanton Martin (Class 4A) and Webb’s Morgan Ernst (Division II-AA) were also finalists for their respective classifications.
