Mays, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee according to 247Sports, had been committed to the Vols since July 13, 2015. The news comes during a disappointing season for UT, in which it has lost four of its last five games and need to win two of its remaining three games to become bowl eligible after back-to-back nine win seasons.
Over the last two weeks, Mays has taken unofficial visits to Clemson and Georgia. He has official visits scheduled to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Georgia and Tennessee over the next month.
